Only in recent history did rugby begin to be played across the USA, but the love for the game that the rest of the world feels is starting to catch on.

College Rugby Tours to the USA

To those of you from New Zealand, Australia or the UK, we're talking about the USA's equivalent to University, not secondary school. Now, rugby at the collegiate level in the USA has steadily risen in popularity since the early 2000s. At this point, over 2500 colleges & universities offer the sport across America.

The USA’s potential as a competitive rugby-playing nation is growing by the year, especially since the Major League Rugby championship was created. So to those of you from a country that lives and breathes rugby, the teams you’ll face aren’t going to be pushovers. Come along and play against teams at a highly competitive level, and experience the great hospitality and enthusiasm that the locals have towards the sport.

The USA is the fourth biggest country in the world, so it goes without saying, if you’re planning a rugby tour across the country, there will be a lot of planning involved. But why not rest easy, enjoy your time and hand over the reigns to the team at RTI? You can enjoy your time more and focus on developing your rugby abilities.

Fantastic School Rugby Tours

Although many tours we offer cater towards a high level of play in the sport, many tours offer experiences catered towards fun and travel, rather than competition. Don’t get us wrong, though, there will be plenty of rugby involved for your kids to play against the schools across the USA. Take part in some of the country's elite sports academies in California, Dalla and across the USA and develop your skills.

Rugby union is played in over 650 high school programs across the USA, so there’s plenty of competition to find teams that match your ability and skill. Rest assured, we’ll ensure your teams are kept safe on and off the field. You’ll be surprised how enthusiastic the USA teams are for rugby, especially when facing off against teams from countries with such a strong history in the game. On your end, you’ll be able to experience the American’s enthusiasm and energy for the game.

Rugby Sevens Tours to the USA

There are many iterations of the game of rugby, whether you’re playing union, league, touch rugby or Australian rules football. The game that seems to be taking the world by storm, and the USA in particular, is rugby sevens. The game is a much more fast-paced and exciting alternative form of 15 aside rugby. At only 7 minutes each half and seven players per side, sevens will put your skills to the test.

On a collegiate level, the CRC (Collegiate Rugby Championship) is a competition in the USA that attracts almost 30,000 spectators yearly. In 2019, America ranked second in the World Rugby Sevens circuit, so rest assured if Rugby Sevens is your game, the competition will be challenging.

USA Tours for Women’s Rugby

Women’s rugby in the USA is considered an ‘Emerging Sport’ still by the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association). Don’t let that fool you, though, because the country rallies behind their women's rugby teams just the same. For those women’s rugby teams from New Zealand and Australia, touring the USA will present a fantastic opportunity to show your skills and set a benchmark for a passionate group of emerging rugby players. Played across 35 colleges in America, the NIRA (National Intercollegiate Rugby Association), provides much support for aspiring college players that you may face off against.

The USA was recently successful in their bid to host the 2031 Men’s and 2033 Women's Rugby World Cup, so come on board and tour the USA, and you might face off against a future world cup winner.
